FINANCIAL DATA TRANSFORMATION

Project Manager, Part-time

MindBridge | Ottawa, ON

I am working part-time with our VP of Development and our Customer Success Data Developer to build a software that standardizes the structure of financial data files to allow for line-by-line ingestion and risk recognition to successfully take place. Our software functions to break apart data into workable signatures, which then undergo a series of tailored formatting commands based on the detected layout.

As Project Manager, I have been responsible for initiating the project, defining and updating performance objectives based on data file manipulation experience, managing the testing process with our secondary developer, defining next steps, exploring alternative solutions, and reiterating the purpose of the software.

BUDGET VARIANCE ANALYSIS

Team Lead

MindBridge | Ottawa, ON

I participated in an annual hackathon at MindBridge, leading a team of customer success workers and developers. In 24 hours, our team developed a budget variance feature which aimed to supplement the risk-based financial analysis offered in Ai Auditor. We successfully developed a working software that used pre-existing General Ledger data to produce a report export summarizing the variance between reported account activity and defined budget amounts. Our team won the "Best Cross-Functional Team Collaboration" award and gained the interest of our product and leadership teams as a potential feature addition for the enterprise market.

As Project Lead, I was responsible for defining the project scope, objectives, requirements, limitations, short-term goals, long-term vision, and team responsibilities. While facilitating the project, I also prepared detailed reports and high quality visualizations to effectively communicate our product to our audience.

COMMERCIALIZING QUEEN'S RESEARCH

Queen's Innovation Center Summer Initiative

Foundry Program

Through the Foundry Program at QICSI, myself and a team of multidisciplinary students were tasked with the responsibility of evaluating the commercial potential of a patented software technology. This technology is a flash controller algorithm developed by Dr. Shahram Yousefi and his master's student, Jay Hua from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen's University.

Analyzing the marketability of such a complex technology involved developing an in-depth understanding of the patented algorithm with no previous knowledge of flash technology software. Moving forward, my team and I completed rigorous market research through reading industry reports, speaking with top industry players from large corporations such as Intel, Microsoft, and Toshiba. Through this experience, I was able to step outside the everyday realm of technical engineering research and design to explore the process of successfully getting innovative products in the hands of the right consumers. Above all, it made me realize my desire to combine engineering with business and marketing through pursuing an entrepreneurial or product consulting career path.

This project eventually lead to the formation of my team's company, Durabyte. Our company optimizes data allocating within flash storage devices to prolong their useful lifespan in applications such as cloud data centers and edge computing environments.

USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN

Queen's Certificate in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Creativity Program

Design Empathy Course

Through my education in user experience design, two projects were pursued that maximized the intuitiveness and desirability of meaningful product solutions.

The first product solution, MESH, was a communication platform that addressed the needs of music festival attendees in terms of safety, socialization, and event awareness. MESH provided music festival attendees with an interactive and fully customized map that visually informed users of their proximity to peers, emergency services, and event amenities. MESH also gave the users the ability to quickly contact peers, emergency, and security services using technology designed for remote, low-signal locations.

The second product solution, Unpicked, was an easy to use mobile application that raised awareness of food waste. Unpicked marketed deformed fruits and vegetables disposed of by grocery store chains as an economically beneficial and environmentally sustainable way of consuming produce. Unpicked appealed to both financially and environmentally conscious users by clearly summarizing the economical and environmental savings accomplished from purchasing produce through Unpicked compared to conventional grocery stores. Finally, Unpicked offered flexible subscription-based pricing for users to test the product concept at their own pace with no hassle.

MARKETING STRATEGY

The One Million Teacher's Project

Enactus Queen's

As a project developer and website consultant for the One Million Teachers Project through Enactus Queen's, I worked with a team to develop a marketing, website, and social media platform strategy to increase global awareness and participation in the One Million Teachers Project. This project is a social initiative that provides rewards-based training and education to teachers worldwide. It strives to generate a higher quality of education through encouraging more motivation and engagement from our teachers.
