MY STORY
Learning new passions with each new experience.
I worked as a ski instructor for disabled youth for four years, which inspired my decision to pursue biomechanical engineering at Queen's University. I believed this program would provide the ideal opportunity to combine my love for problem solving, with my desire to make a difference and my passion for skiing. After two years in the classroom and assisting in a prosthetics research facility at Queen's, I came to realize pursuing this industry academically diminished the original enthusiasm I once had for the cause and the sport.

I became involved with the Queen's Innovation Center as a member of their startup accelerator program. I gained a strong sense of the driven, exciting, and emotional culture behind startups. Although successful in our pitch, my team decided not to pursue our company as we were undertaking different personal endeavours. The main takeaway from this experience, however, was not getting to start my own company. This experience redefined the art of problem solving and design, while teaching me the value of carrying an entrepreneurial spirit in everything I take on.
Operating a startup allowed me to step outside the realm of engineering and apply my problem solving skills towards transforming a highly technical idea into a marketable and intuitive product. This type of design and problem solving was focused on end-user interaction and interpretation of potentially powerful product solutions. I felt an unfamiliar energy and ambition towards this type of work, which is why I continue to pursue opportunities in project management and product development for diverse business innovation initiatives.
ME AS A TEAM MEMBER
STRENGTHS
What I can contribute.

AN INNOVATIVE MIND
One thing I love about any project is the limitless brainstorm of solutions. My mind is unrestricted when it comes both developing unique and variable approaches to problems, as well as hearing what others have to say. I have a strong appreciation for team collaboration when it comes to maximizing creativity and diversity in proposed design solutions.

RESOURCEFULNESS
In any project I make sure I become aware of both the strengths present on my team but also the resources available in my surroundings. I get creative and determined to make use of any accessible external talent, equipment, and materials. Being resourceful allows the team to take the project to the next level in the most efficient way possible.

RELIABILITY
Commitment to any project is not an issue. I understand my roles and responsibilities clearly and complete tasks in a timely manner. Through experiencing successful and unsuccessful team projects, I understand how critical proper communication is in ensuring the project is carried out cohesively and efficiently. Therefore I keep open communication with team members so project understandings are mutual.

LEADERSHIP
I enjoy taking on multiple roles and responsibilities and I am quick to learn and understand multiple aspects of a project. This allows me to pursue a multitude of tasks, depending on what needs to be accomplished. I am a natural leader in my ability to understand the overall project scope and what work strategies are most effective for my team.
